Check Out These Home Exchange & House Swap Services
When my parents went to Italy last summer they stayed in a home they had found through a home exchange site. The more I looked into it, the more I thought I was a really neat idea and a great way to see the world and still feel at home.
If you don’t know, a home exchange is an alternative to staying in a hotel during a vacation.
Below are a few sites I found that offer different kinds of home exchange programs.
HomeExchange.com is owned and operated by a group with 36 years of home exchange business experience between them and more than 30 personal home exchanges.
They offer two types of home exchanges both nationally and internationally – the Home Exchange and the Hospitality Exchange.
Home Exchange:
- Trade homes, condos, or apartments at a time that works for both parties
- Ability to trade home for houseboat or home for RV, etc
- Often includes cars as part of the home swap
Hospitality Exchange:
- Host each other in their homes at the chosen times
- Home exchange partners stay with you as guests – then you swap and stay with them as their guests
- A more social exchange than the home exchange – ideally you get a built-in tour guide on your visit to their home
Brought to you by the same company as HomeExchange.com, SeniorsHomeExchange.com is the only home exchange program exclusively for travelers 50 years old and older.
Intervac International Home Exchange
The Intervac International Home Exchange company was started in the early 1950s by a group of teachers who wanted to find economical ways to travel internationally.
Intervac services 50 countries and arranges home exchanges for 20,000 families from all walks of life, from all over the world.
There are more home exchanges companies out there…..do you frequent any? What home exchange sites do you like? Do you have a favorite that you use often?
