Alvaro villa is part of a complex that has been built in a terrace which offers sea view and is situated west of Chania on the outskirts of the village of amisiana. The villa has been decorated in a modern style and has individual swimming pool. The area is rural and relies more on agriculture for its income than tourism. The pebble beach is 300 metres away and is reached by walking through melon fields. Kamisiana has a small traditional taverna and a local shop. The larger village of Kolymbari boasts a greater choice of shops and the pretty harbour has a selection of tavernas, which serve fresh fish as well as local dishes. The resorts of Platanias and Aghia Marina are a ten-minute drive away and provide lively bars and clubs for those wanting a less relaxed night out. A 20 minute drive east will take you to the bustling town of Chania. This wonderful town is a magnet for those who love exploring. Turkish and Venetian architecture grace the old town with a smattering of Neo Classical buildings squeezed between. The tiny streets house marvellous restaurants and tavernas and the shops house everything from locally produced artefacts to designer labels. When sustenance is called for, the Venetian harbour is lined with numerous places, which can refresh the body as well as the soul. |
